Inpow launches battery pack production in Thailand

Inpow, GAC Group’s battery division, began production in Thailand on October 29, 2026. The first locally produced traction battery pack rolled off the new line, CarNewsChina reported on October 30.

With the new facility, Inpow aims to strengthen the supply chain for electrified vehicles in Southeast Asia. The launch is also part of the company’s strategy to bring its manufacturing expertise to international markets.

Within GAC Group, Inpow is responsible for bringing batteries into industrial production. The company independently researches, develops and manufactures traction batteries and energy storage batteries. Its research team has more than 800 members, and it holds over 700 patents.

Inpow’s stated total investment is 10.9 billion yuan, or $1.63 billion. The company has already spent more than 2 billion yuan on research and development, equivalent to $300 million.

Earlier, on October 15, 2026, Inpow announced that its cumulative global production had reached 300,000 battery packs. The company’s batteries are used in GAC Aion vehicles, including the i60, N60 and UT.

The battery facility complements GAC’s vehicle manufacturing operations in Thailand. The Thai vehicle plant has an annual production capacity of up to 50,000 vehicles and, according to the company, is operating at full capacity.

GAC entered the Thai market in 2023, and its local division marked its third anniversary on September 10, 2026. From the brand’s market entry through August 2026, 34,898 of its vehicles were registered in Thailand. Its dealer and service network has grown to 73 locations across 40 provinces.

GAC is also expanding charging infrastructure in the country. The company has built more than 300 stations, both independently and with partners. The network offers more than 1,000 DC fast-charging points.
