Jetour launches Freedom 7 crossover in China

Jetour has begun selling the Freedom 7 in China. According to Kolesa.ru, the crossover replaces the previous Freedom and becomes the entry-level model in the family. The Jetour brand belongs to Chery.

Jetour Freedom 7 prices and trim levels in China

Jetour officially announced the model in October and has now held a full launch presentation, detailing its equipment. At launch in China, the four trim levels cost 113,900–134,900 yuan before promotional discounts.

The base version comes with 18-inch wheels and LED lighting. The driver gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, while the infotainment screen measures 15.6 inches. Standard equipment also includes climate control, surround-view cameras and conventional cruise control.

From the second-highest trim level upwards, the crossover gets 19-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof and wireless smartphone charging. Higher-spec versions have heated and ventilated front seats, with a fold-out leg rest for the front passenger. These versions also feature adaptive cruise control, automatic braking and lane-keeping systems.

Jetour Freedom 7 engine, drivetrain and design

The Freedom 7 is offered with just one engine and transmission combination. Its 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine produces 184 hp and is paired with a seven-speed automated manual transmission, with front-wheel drive only. The larger Jetour Freedom 7 Plus comes with all-wheel drive as standard: it has a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 254 hp and a conventional eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Freedom 7 was not developed from scratch. The original crossover debuted in China in 2024 as the Jetour Shanhai T1 hybrid, followed in 2025 by the petrol-powered Jetour Freedom. The Freedom 7 Plus later joined the family with its own design.

The new Freedom 7 has its own bumpers and a grille with prominent Jetour lettering. The headlights and taillights retain their shapes, but their internal LED layouts have changed. An external “backpack” is mounted on the tailgate.

The body measures 4,651 mm in length, rising to 4,749 mm with the “backpack” included. The crossover is 1,967 mm wide and 1,840 mm tall. Official ground clearance is 185 mm.

Inside, a new dashboard has a more restrained look than those in the other models in the family. The Freedom 7 also gets a two-spoke steering wheel. The driver selects gears using a steering-column stalk, whereas the related crossovers use a conventional selector.

Outside China, the Freedom/Shanhai T1 family is known collectively as the Jetour T1. The Freedom 7 shares the global model’s 2,800 mm wheelbase. The other members of the Chinese family have a wheelbase of 2,810 mm.
