German plant in Ukraine suspends operations; impact on Audi and BMW unconfirmed
RBC reported on October 17, 2026, that German company Kromberg & Schubert’s plant in Rovantsi, near Lutsk in Ukraine, had suspended operations following an attack.
Founded in 1902, Kromberg & Schubert manufactures cable systems, electrical wiring and automotive components. The Rovantsi plant has operated since 2006, producing cable systems for brands including Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The company has another Ukrainian plant in Zhytomyr.
In a report published on October 17 at 11:29, TASS linked the suspension of operations at the facility in the Volyn region to damage. Listing the brands for which the plant produced vehicle electrical wiring systems, the agency also named Škoda and Porsche.
RBC cited a statement from Russia’s Defense Ministry saying that it had struck the facility. The ministry claimed that the plant repaired vehicles for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Kromberg & Schubert Ukraine LU LLC said it was assessing the situation and coordinating its next steps. The company pledged to announce the resumption of operations through internal communication channels when possible.
